Praying for Alpha
Here are some exciting things coming in my ministry and I want you to pray for these:
1. Alpha weekend away - Alpha at OPC on Wednesday is having lots of traffic and we want as many people as possible to come and join our weekend away this Friday and Saturday. We will meet at OPC on Friday evening for "An intro to Alpha Weekend", "Who is Holy Spirit" and "What does the Holy Spirit do" movies. Then, on Saturday, from 9am to 2pm, we will meet at Youth For Christ on Adelaide St. to watch "How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit" and "How can I make the most of the rest of my life" movies. After watching "How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit", on Saturday, at 10 am, we will begin the time of prayer and ministry. PLEASE REMEMBER US IN YOUR PRAYER AT THAT TIME. We are praying for miracles to happen: healings for the sick, deliverance and receiving freedom for those who are struggling with addictions, emotional issues, etc., baptism of the Holy Spirit for those who seek, power and new gifts for everyone. Our Monday Intercessary team has been receiving some words of knowledge, and one of them was in vision: there was a green pasture with thorns and thistles but these thorns and thistles were removed. We were reminded of Matthew 13:22-23 "The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. But the seed that falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown." Pray that the word sown by the Holy Spirit at Weekend Away will produce a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown!
2. OPC Youth Council decided to have Senior youth group to go and deliver care packages of goodies to the people in downtown on Friday, December 1. Pray for safety first. Also pray according to God's word in Colossians 4:3 "Pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains." A couple of youth are quite eager to share the Good news of Jesus with people.

3. Youth Alpha at Thursday Pizza Lunch continues to go strong and I want you to pray for two things: 1) There will be an opportunity to have a weekend away with these youth in December. I'm hoping that we may meet sometime during Christmas break to do the weekend away stuff. We may have to do this at the church, but at least my prayer is that it won't need to be rushed but can be done over a course of whole day (like 9am to 3pm on Saturday) or more. I have not talked with them about this, and my hope is that when I talk with them about it, they will be open to and interested in attending the weekend away. 2) Please pray also that some (or all) of these youth will become involved in offering Alpha at schools in the next term. My hope has been that Youth Alpha will be offered right at school during lunchtime to reach more young people and also to save the time for the youth to walk back and forth to the church. In addition to having the youth excited about this idea, I also need a school teacher to sponsor this program to be run at school. So, pray that there will be at least one school teacher or two, who will step up and sponsor Youth Alpha at, specifically, Riverside Public school and Oakridge Secondary school.
