How I have been doing...
Many of you are wondering how I have been doing lately. I'm sorry I have not updated at all for almost last four months or so. There are two reasons. First, I have been extremely busy with many things. I have become involved with many things, and if you know me, I often dive hard into the things to get myself busy. Second, it was really hard for me to decide what I can share with you, because there are many of things that I got involved that are not so public knowledge (I'm not doing anything secrecy, but certain things needed time to become public knowledge).
Now, I believe many things have begun to settle down and there are certain things I can share with you. Today, I will be quickly updating you on where I am and some of my prayer requests. And sometime soon, I will write each item more in details.
1. Interim Moderator of Dorchester and South Nissouri Presbyterian Church
I was asked by my Presbytery to consider becoming an interim moderator of the two point charges, in which the former minister resigned. After much prayer, I decided to say yes. I actually believe these two charges have strong connection to my future ministry, at least in spiritual way, if not physical or practical, which I will share in my future blog.
Prayer Request: Please pray that I will lead these two congregations into the direction that God is leading. I pray for God's Spirit to pour richly upon the two congregations.
2. Ambassador for Compassion Canada
I shared about Compassion Canada the other day. Now, I have officially become their ambassador, we recently had a retreat for all the ambassadors. It was a great chance for me to meet all the other ambassadors and learn more about Compassion Canada. For instance, you may remember Tim Hague, the winner of Canada's Amazing Race season 1. I'm now working with Compassion Canada to create speaking opportunities on behalf of Compassion Canada within churches and any Christian speaking platforms. I'm particularly interested in creating opportunities for the Korean and Asian ethnic churches in Canada to partner with Compassion Canada.
Prayer Request: Please pray that when I speak for Compassion Canada (it could be Sunday morning sermon or minute person, or speech at conference), God will open up the hearts of the listeners to feel compassionate towards the children, who seek to be sponsored. Also, pray that I will have an open door to the Korean and Asian ethnic churches in Canada.
3. CCNL Board Member
I was asked by CCNL to consider joining their board. CCNL, if you don't know, exists as a network to provide opportunities for Christian leaders in both churches and Christian ministry in London and area to connect, learn and grow togther - all for the Kingdom of God to flourish in our community (their mission statement), and this is exactly what I would like to see also through my future ministry. I am now privileged to work with amazing pastors and Christian leaders. I am already assigned (and I'm excited) to lead one future event in March 2019 with an amazing leader, Barry Slauenwhite, the current CEO of Compassion Canada.
Prayer Request: Pray that God will grant me the authority over this city to invite the Holy Spirit to do God's amazing work in the city through CCNL. Pray particularly that God will do something amazing at the level of historic revivals in the year 2020 (I may share this in future).
4. Renewal Fellowship Board Member
God has continuously impressed in my heart to work for a renewal within my denomination. I have continued to work as a board member in Renewal Fellowship. We had a number of board meetings and prayer meetings over the summer and fall. Also, I'm working hard to introduce Renewal Fellowship within the Korean churches in the Presbyterian Churches in Canada, as I know many of them are concerned about what is happening within our denomination and what that means for their future.
Prayer Request: Pray that God will grant wisdom and strength upon Renewal Fellowship Board, including myself, to work towards a renewal within our denomination. Pray also God will grant me an open door to the Korean Presbyterian Churches in Canada to encourage them through the support from Renewal Fellowship.
Lastly, I also ask you to pray for me, as I am travelling to St. John's in Newfoundland in early November to join the Celebration of Hope event (speaker: Will Graham). Also, I'm still mentoring a number of young people. Pray that God will raise these young people to be his workers, harvesting much for his glory.
Thank you so much for your love and support, especially for those who reached out to me in various ways.
In Christ,
John
